The objective of this editorial project is to present to the Brazilian public, for the first time in direct translation from English, an important part of the extensive written work of Mohandas K. Gandhi, the celebrated Indian thinker, politician and educator. The Gandhian saga is a shining example of how resistance to oppression must begin by working with the ego and extend to the collectivity. Concepts such as non-violence, dear to the author, are presented in detail and substantiated. The work thus does not fail to meet a basic need, especially when considering that colonialism – for whose abolition Gandhi worked so hard – is reappearing today in new forms and on a planetary scale.
