This trip is for people who like to know cultures that impact on our worldview and also on ourselves. And India, this immense piece of land, evokes and inspires significant changes in those who decide to visit it, with an open heart for this journey.

 

This itinerary intends to contemplate Art, History and Culture in a journey through three important regions: Delhi, where past and contemporaneity merge; Rishikesh – close to the Himalayas, bathed by the River Ganges and surrounded by exuberant nature, it concentrates in its region a large number of ashrans for yoga, vedanta and meditation; Bhubaneswar – with a glorious past that inspired and gave rise to the art of dance and music as an expression of devotion and self-knowledge; and Puri – one of India's holy cities, home to the iconic Jagannatha temple.

We will stay in the village of Hauz Khas, the green lung of Delhi. The village is famous for its eclectic mix of established galleries, independent fashion boutiques and vintage shops that look like they've stepped out of a Bollywood poster. It brings together charming art studios, pubs and a beautiful park, famous for its water reservoir, it is an artistic and welcoming environment to absorb the marriage of a glorious past with the contemporary.

We will visit Old Delhi, the old part of the capital of India, with Guru Sharon Lowen as our guide. We will visit the Jama Masjid Muslim mosque; Chunnamal Haveli; Kinari and Spice Bazar (open part); Paratha Wala; Naughara Gali and Jain Temple. We will also pass in front of the historic Gurudwara Sis Ganj and the iconic Red Fort. Lunch – North Indian cuisine. In the afternoon we will visit the Gandhi Smriti and the Sikhi temple, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

Early in the morning we travel by train to Haridwar and from there we take a car to Rishikesh. Rishikesh is a perfect place to contemplate a setting that overflows with philosophy and spirituality.

We will participate in the aarti – fire ceremony, a Vedic ritual performed by the Parmarth Niketan Ashram on the banks of the river Ganges.

On this day we will visit the cave of the legendary sage Vashistha, who meditated for decades in this place on the banks of the Ganges River. A very special place visited over the centuries by sages, masters and students of yoga, vedanta and meditation.

This will be a more intense day, bearing in mind the visit to places very sacred to Hindus. In the morning we will visit the Kunjapuri Temple (30 km from Rishikesh), a small temple associated with the divine mother, Sati – 1st wife of the god Shiva.

In the early afternoon we will visit the Shree Neelkanth Mahadev Temple (32 km from Rishikesh), famous temple dedicated to Shiva in the form of Nikatanta. An ancient pilgrimage site for Hindus.

What few people know is that Orissa is one of the most charming states in India. The Oriya culture has had, comparatively, much less foreign influence and therefore retains a unique and almost untouchable culture. Bhubaneswar is the land of temples in India, a vast majority of them from the medieval period, they are associated with the cult of Shiva, Shakti and Vishnu. It is also one of the places of strong evolution of Tantrism. All of these temples have a close connection to classical Odissi music and dance, arts that flourished as an integral part of their rituals. On this day we will visit Mukteshvara and Parasurameshvara Temple, both dedicated to Shiva; the Vaital Deul Temple dedicated to Durga; the Rajahani, dedicated to Shiva and the Lingaraj Temple, dedicated to Shiva/Vishnu. These temples are part of the glorious period of Nagara architecture.

We will visit the archaeological site of Kandagiri and Udaigiri, two hills, where the oldest cultural complex in India is located, dedicated to Jain monks by King Kharavela, 2th century. We will leave Bhubaneswar on the way to Puri, We will visit the tantric temple of the 64 yoginis, from the 9th century. XNUMX. From there we went to Dauli, the Buddhist stupa, associated with the story of King Ashoka. From there we went to Konarak, traveling through the countryside of Orissa. Early in the morning we will visit Sri Yukteshvara's Karar Ashram. As a fully realized Kriya Yogi, he established the Karar Ashram in Puri for the dissemination of ancient teachings. He was instrumental in spreading the message of Kriya Yoga in the world through his disciple, Paramhansa Yogananda. After the Ashram, we continue to visit the Jagannath temple, an icon of the religious lines of Hinduism. From Puri we head to the village of Ragurajpur to visit the artisan village of Patachitra, a precious work of painting on palm leaves. This village is inhabited by artisans and their families.
