Creating the Travel Program in an extremely personalized way, already included in the program and explained in more detail here;
Traveller Preparation to travel in these regions with quality already included in the program and explained in more detail here;
Travel Logistics and Organization with Chörten care and quality already included in the program and explained in more detail here;
24/XNUMX In-Person Support During the Trip as explained in more detail here that in the case of this trip it will be in person during all days in Nepal and Tibet;
The travel program includes:
Accompaniment in person of specialist Guilherme Samel during the trip as described in the detailed itinerary: during visits, car and plane trips in Nepal and Tibet.
Arrivals and Departures are made with full assistance from our local partners. Upon international arrival in Kathmandu, Guilherme Samel, Chörten's director, will welcome the group at the airport. If you need or prefer to arrive or depart on different flights than the group's flight, we will arrange extra transfers with the same care, explained better below. In this case, our local partner will receive you at the airport, maintaining telephone contact with Guilherme who, in this way, will accompany with all due care upon arrival at the hotel;
extra activities, described and planned mainly in the thematic travel programs (with the accompaniment of a Brazilian specialist), are included. It is always possible and very meritorious to make some more spontaneous contribution to these teachers, if you wish;
Visits as mentioned in the travel program with the tickets included. If, by chance, there is any special opportunity for an extra activity consistent with the theme of the trip, the travel specialist may suggest changing the order of visits, such as, more rarely, exchanging a visit for this activity;
Local guides will accompany the group in visits to monuments and other tours in general, except for a few regions that the Brazilian specialist of the trip knows well and is more pleasant to visit without guides (explained in detail in the briefing as before being interested), or when mentioned accordingly in the program of trip;
Land transport in the group's own vehicles with extra care as the number of seats used, no need to use seats when they are not reclining and luggage space a little larger than what is often offered in these countries;
Accommodation in double rooms in the hotels mentioned on the accommodation page. In general, check-ins are at 14 pm and check-outs are at 12 pm. If you need an earlier check-in on your arrival in Kathmandu or a later check-out on your departure from Kathmandu, please let us know so that we can check the rates and make the reservations as you wish.
Meals: breakfasts are included in the hotel rates for the entire trip;
Visas and Special Permissions to Tibet are included in the terrestrial part;
*Group values and sizes: we confirm the trip from the first 3 people. The land part for a group of 3 to 4 people costs US$ 6450 per person;
**Single room supplement in case of your preference or need if there is not a partner for accommodation in a double room;
The trip program does not include:
– Meals and drinks except breakfast. On average, we can consider that with US$35 per day we can eat very well in these countries, depending on what, where and how much we eat. In small cities the price is usually much lower and in larger cities it can be a little more. We will discuss this in more detail in our briefing;
– Transportation where not mentioned in the program (taxis for short and medium distances usually cost between US$2 and US$7);
– International transfers if you prefer or need to arrive or depart on different flights than the majority of the group (who usually travel on the same flights). We will organize an assisted transfer with our local partners, also with all the care and online monitoring of Chörten, as an extra service with a price according to the number of people;
– Tips (very important in these cultures): around US$8 to US$12 per day, explained better in the trip briefing;
– Voluntary contributions to monasteries, temples and Dharma teachers that we can find while traveling;
– Visa for Nepal (US$50 for up to 30 days between your first and last day in Nepal on your trip, more here);
– Travel insurance: very important and therefore highly recommended. More information: here;
– Entrance fees to monuments for cameras and/or video cameras, if applicable (normally between US$1 and US$5, only in cases where a charge is made). This is increasingly rare;
– Changes to the program in case of political unforeseen events, flight cancellations, conflicts and other types of political situations, changes in local rules and permits, epidemics, climatic and geographical unforeseen events, new fees and taxes, etc., as well as by governments and/or local service providers in Brazil / Nepal / Tibet;
Economic class economical;
Promotional Rates, when confirmed by travellers and issues in advance, they will be transferred in full to travellers;
Maximum weight allowed for checked baggage on flights between Nepal/Tibet: around 20kg. Excess weight may be charged by the airline at check-in: around US$7 to US$9 per extra kg (except for some specific routes where airlines have started charging more / we will check carefully); More information: here
Values subject to change: we used to include a safety margin in the price of domestic flights. Since our economy and exchange rate are at a stage where we need to be even more careful, the published price is the price available in the last search. The sooner we confirm the flight, the better. Prices are 100% confirmed at the time of ticket purchase, with the possibility of change up until that moment without prior notice from the airlines;
In advance: in general, the sooner we issue our tickets, the better fares and routes we find. Promotional rates are unpredictable, tend to run out very quickly and have extremely high fees for any kind of changes in the future. These, when made available, are very worthwhile if we have very certain round-trip dates, that is, the main programs and extensions that we will make;
Purchasing it: it is always prudent to wait for confirmation from the group before issuing the international air. We confirm our groups with a very small number of people;
Form of payment: the international air fare is normally paid in 5 interest-free installments by airlines on Visa and Mastercard cards;
More information: which will be of great help in choosing and purchasing your international flights on the page Before > Preparations > International Flight: here;
We have a lot of experience in operating trips in these regions of the world. We work with very good local partners within the possibilities of these countries. Even so, it is important to keep in mind that the quality of local services and infrastructure (hotels, transportation, food, etc.) are not the same as in Brazil, Europe and North America. Most of the time, we will be pleasantly surprised by their human qualities and, sometimes, even by the technical aspect of the service. But unforeseen events and problems can happen due to cultural issues (very common), structural issues, and so on. It is our job, responsibility and even pleasure, at Chörten and our partners, to foresee them and, when necessary, to take care of overcoming them in the best possible way. In this way, the most important responsibility falls to the Travellers: to enjoy the trip in the most relaxed, pleasant and profitable way possible. As part of this responsibility, we understand that we are traveling in these incredible countries and cultures, very different from ours in many aspects and that teach us so much. The better we understand these cultures, the better quality and tranquility we will enjoy our trip.
With the preparations for the trip well taken care of, with all our assistance and support, from boarding the flight here in Brazil until your return, you will see that your trip will be very smooth, well cared for, very well enjoyed, fun, with significant lessons that we will bring from come back and they will be of great value to us in our lives.
Travels to Tibet have always asked and will ask for a good spirit of adventure from Travellers. We take all possible care, it is a very important characteristic of our work as you can see in page with feedback from Chörten Travellers (here), and that's why the results are really good. Still, due to structural issues in these regions and local political characteristics in each region we travel through, it's important to be careful (in the sense of respectful) with everyone involved in the trip and always be prepared for changes in plans, minor or major unforeseen events that may happen in these regions. We'll talk about these characteristics of traveling in these regions;
The Ground Part and Domestic Air cancellation policies come into effect from the moment the deposit is paid, when we confirm accommodation reservations, we issue air and train tickets according to the necessary advance notice of each trip. These vary from service provider to service provider that we use on our trip (hotels, airlines, etc.). In general, cancellations up to 90 days before the start of the trip will have payments refunded almost in full, with small cancellation fees from local airlines, train tickets, hotels, local operators and banks. From 60 days before the start of the trip, cancellation rates increase gradually, varying from service provider to service provider. Still, we will certainly do our best and talk to each service provider to see what reimbursement we can get even after this date. Regarding air tickets, each airline and fare has its own cancellation policy.
The Chörten Support cancellation policy is linked to the start of the services provided: Setting up the Travel Program, Traveller Preparations, Logistics and Travel Organization and Monitoring During the Trip. For example, we will not charge for Travel Support if we do not accompany (online or in person) the trip. If the other services are already being provided, they can be used at another time without new charges (just adjustments if any) and thus there will be no refund.
The values will be divided into monthly installments of the same value as at the time of registration, with the deposit, and then monthly on the 5st of each month . Adjustments will be made according to the group's formation, since the number of people changes the cost of the trip. Also, according to the confirmation of the domestic airfare prices, so that we can pass on the exact ticket prices to you, the Travellers. The last two installments will be used for some of the direct payments to local service providers and, thus, settled in cash, US dollars (new $100 bills explained here) upon arrival in Kathmandu.
Due to the way travel logistics work in Tibet, instead of having a main program and an extension, as we normally do, we will have two travel programs happening at the same time. Let's call it the Rongbuk Tibet trip and the Kailash Tibet trip. The two travel programs will happen at the same time, we will be together, as a single group. The day after Rongbuk (from Everest base camp) we will continue together for most of the day when the Rongbuk group will go to Nepal with our well-known Tibetan guide, driver and meet up with our well-known Nepalese team to return to our well-known hotel and Tibetan neighborhood for the return to Brazil as explained on days 15 and 16 (here e here). Guilherme will go to Kailash with whoever goes to Kailash.
There is a cost of the trip that will be shared by the total number of Travellers on both programs. We will present these amounts to Travellers when we begin our travel discussions and confirm the amount we will deduct from the land portion once we have the number of Travellers on each program confirmed.
