Yellow fever
Because we are Brazilian, to enter India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet we are required to take the Yellow Fever vaccine:
– This vaccine needs to be properly proven with the international proof issued by the competent authorities.
– It needs to be taken more than ten days before the start of the trip for it to be valid.
– If you come from a country as Brazil that we must travel with a yellow fever vaccine international certificate, in your passport we must staple your international voucher on the last page, not on the back cover, where new passports have a chip that can't be damaged by staples. Loose receipts or those held together only with paper clips can be lost during the countless hotel check-ins and check-outs and flights during your trip. Click on the images to see how we suggest stapling your passport:

Covid
For the Covid vaccine, India and Nepal allow entry into the country with one of two certificates:
- (1) International certificate in English with full COVID vaccine cycle (for now two doses for most vaccines) if taken in Brazil (and other countries that we can list). We strongly suggest that it be the certificate issued by SUS and not, for example, from Poupa Tempo in São Paulo. We explain in more detail: herePlease click on the image to view the certificate:
OU
- (2) International certificate in English of the negative RT PCR test result made up to 72 hours before the start of the trip, that is, the first international flight.
– It is important to have one of the two certificates above printed and in the version digital in pdf so that it can be presented whenever requested (flight check-ins, sometimes upon arrival at some airports) and can be sent when filling out online forms required for travel, such as those from the governments of these countries.
– It is rare, but it may happen that a vaccination or test certificate is requested during the trip, for example, on flights between different states.
– As in other countries, in Europe for example, 2% of passengers on international flights, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, will be required to take a COVID test upon arrival.
– We have committed to the Indian government that, in the event of a positive test result, we will remain in quarantine and cover the costs.
– Before returning to Brazil, due to Brazilian rules, anyone who does not have an international COVID-19 vaccine certificate will need to take a test (antigen or RT PCR) to be able to return to Brazil with a negative result.

One of the vaccines doctors often recommend is hepatitis, for which we typically need three months to complete each dose. The Emílio Ribas Travel Medicine Center in São Paulo is, and perhaps is, the only institution capable of administering these doses within a one-month interval.

We'll be quick to warn you that there are highly competent professionals who, perhaps due to a lack of time or experience traveling to these regions, provide information about the dangers of malaria. We rarely travel to regions and times with unusual malaria risks. Regions and times where this risk exists and extra precautions are worth considering include low-lying regions during hot and rainy periods, such as Bodhgaya between May and August.
